John Greenhaw spent years as a tattoo artist before switching to barbering. Opening Wimberley Barber Co. was never the plan. It happened anyway.
The old shop was a back room in a salon near the high school. No windows, no natural light. When the space at the Vineyard Shopping Center came open, he took it, because he wanted a real barbershop and that is what the room could be.
Most of what hangs on the walls came out of his house. There was a barber chair in his living room for years, and his wife was glad to see it go. None of it was a business plan. It was a personality finding the right room.
